Designing
The fabric was hand dyed and then stitched. Each panel took about 30 hours of dyeing time to get the effect I wanted. Cheryl created these bodices out of copper metal. Each one took about 30 hours also. She had to hand beaded those bodices onto the girls before the show.
These dresses were designed by Cheryl Eve Acosta for the "2010" 18th St. Fashion Show "Summer of Decadence" last summer. I enjoyed collaborating with her on this project. She had great drawings with a clear idea for showing off her jewelry. This one is my favorite. It took the most time, but it was worth it. To see it flow across that stage!
Designing is truly fulfilling!
You get to watch a simple design on paper begin to form in fabric.
It's an amazing feeling to see it all come together!
If you have designs or pictures of clothing you want made,
please send them to me. We can get together and create it!
I do alterations on all formal wear
including bridal, prom & other special occasions.
Designed my own wedding dress
& matching chocker.
Costumes
My real passion is costumes! I started working at Fringe & Tassel Costumes(1996) in Lincoln, NE. I feel very blessed to have meet Dorothy Eickmeyer and Phyllis Spahn. The next 7 years these ladies taught me how to sew, and I began designing and creating costumes. Anything from Elvis to Renaissance and Easter bunnies. I made alot of French maids, harems, and colonial women's dresses too. Most of the colonial dresses are made out of curtains!
I have been a costumer for the Lincoln Community Playhouse( The Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Christmas Play and The Little Prince). Backstage costume & crew for the Lied center for numerous musicals. Costumer for Cinderella 2002 at Pinewood Bowl in Lincoln, Ne.
My family has attended the Renaissance Festival since my son Cole was 5 months old. This has definitely turned into a family tradition! I made most of the pieces for our costumes and found a few pieces at our local thrift stores. If your needing help with your costumes, give Snick a call.
